Property matters do involve every individual at some time or the other. Whether one enters into litigation or not but the acquisition and disposal of property do concern almost all of us at one time or the other.

Most property issues fall within the ambit of the Transfer of property act which is applicable across India being a central legislation, but some laws such as those pertaining to rent, revenue and tenancy laws are legislated by the states and differ from state to state in form and content. Property in so far that it relates to inheritance can devolve differently for most religions.
